Timeless Elegance: A Summer Wedding in Delafield, Wisconsin

For Abby and Michael, their wedding day was always meant to feel timeless, personal and centered on what mattered most—their love and the people they love.
A classic palette of black and white with touches of gold brought their vision to life, creating an elegant celebration that felt perfectly at home within the boutique surroundings of Delafield Hotel. But for Abby, choosing Delafield meant something even more.
Having grown up just minutes from the hotel, celebrating in her hometown felt like coming home.

“We knew we wanted classic black and white. It was something that would never go out of style and gave everything a timeless feel. The hotel’s style complemented it so well.”
Why The Delafield Hotel
When Abby and Michael began searching for their wedding venue, they wanted more than a beautiful ballroom. They wanted somewhere that felt inviting, offered exceptional food and service, and would make the weekend easy and enjoyable for their guests.
Delafield Hotel checked every box.

Its classic boutique style immediately appealed to the couple, while its location in the heart of downtown Delafield gave their guests the opportunity to make an entire weekend of the celebration.
“Honestly, everything just made it an easy decision,” Abby shared. “The classic boutique style, inviting location, fantastic food, helpful staff and easy coordination.”
And there was one spot they could already picture themselves enjoying on their wedding day: the bar at I.d.
With its intimate, moody atmosphere, it had long been a favorite of theirs—and became another little piece of Delafield they could incorporate into their celebration.
The Wedding Day
Abby and Michael exchanged vows at St. Paul Parish in Genesee Depot before returning to Delafield Hotel to celebrate with approximately 150 of their closest family and friends.
The couple intentionally left extra time between the ceremony and cocktail hour. It gave guests an opportunity to check into the hotel, explore downtown Delafield or stop at I.d. for a drink while Abby and Michael took photos—and, importantly, found a little time to themselves.
Then it was time to celebrate.
Cocktail hour flowed through the Cushing Room, Foyer and outdoor Portico, giving guests plenty of room to mingle before moving into the Ballroom for dinner, heartfelt speeches and a night of dancing.
For Abby and Michael, those simple moments together were exactly what they had envisioned.
“From socializing during cocktail hour to dancing the night away on the dance floor, it was truly a perfect day.”
A Celebration Made For Food Lovers
As self-described foodies, Abby and Michael knew the menu would be an important part of their wedding experience.
Cocktail hour began with butler-passed bruschetta, bourbon chicken bites and blackened shrimp, accompanied by Wild Mountain Thyme, a favorite cocktail from I.d. that the couple chose as their signature drink.
Dinner featured mixed greens with balsamic fig vinaigrette, followed by a choice of pan-seared salmon or Angus beef tenderloin, and wine service with the meal.
And dessert was especially personal.
The couple served red velvet wedding cake from Aggie’s Bakery alongside a LeDuc’s Frozen Custard sundae bar—a fitting choice for two people who count ice cream and custard among their favorite desserts. Later in the evening, guests were treated to soft pretzels with warm cheese and mustard for a late-night snack.
“The food was honestly amazing,” Abby said. “Everyone raved about how good it was.”

A Moment On Top Of The World
Among all the laughter, dancing and celebration, one of Abby and Michael’s most unforgettable memories happened away from the party.
Midway through the reception, the newlyweds slipped away together and headed up the hotel tower to the rooftop.
For a few quiet moments, there were no guests to greet, no photographs to pose for and nowhere else they needed to be.
Just the two of them.
“It was the perfect alone-time escape. We really took every moment in. We felt on top of the world.”
It became one of those rare wedding-day moments when time seemed to slow down—and one that perfectly captured how they felt that day: happy, in love and excited for everything still ahead.
A Place They Can Return To
One of Abby and Michael’s favorite things about choosing Delafield Hotel is that their relationship with the venue didn’t end when the wedding did.
They can return for dinner at I.d., spend a weekend in Delafield or simply stop in for a cocktail—and immediately be transported back to July 12th.
“Going to I.d. for date nights brings us right back to the day we got married. Not many people can say they can go back to their wedding venue for date nights or long weekend getaways.”
For the couple, The Delafield Hotel became more than the setting for one unforgettable day. It became part of their story.
From the Couple
When asked what they would tell another couple considering the Delafield Hotel, Abby pointed to something that mattered just as much as the beauty of the venue: how easy the team made it for them to enjoy their day.
From planning and coordination to setup and teardown, Abby and Michael felt they could hand over the details and simply be present with each other and their guests.
“Everything was so seamless and worry-free. We were able to just be present with each other and our guests. The hotel made us feel so special and like it was truly a day to celebrate our love.”
And Abby’s best advice for couples planning their own wedding?
Don’t let the little things overshadow the reason everyone is there.
“The only thing that matters is the love between you and your spouse. Have fun and spend time with the people you love.”
