One City // Five Ways Series Chapter One: The Explorer

May 16, 2019

Hiking, golfing, biking, boating–it doesn’t get better than summers in Wisconsin, but Lake Country summers are the best. We’re not biased; there’s just so much to do in our neck of the woods! With the weather finally warming up, now is the ideal time to start planning your next trip to Delafield.

Get outdoors and explore Lake Country with these five activities:

Hike Lapham Peak

A two-minute drive from downtown Delafield in the Kettle Moraine State Forest, Lapham Peak is a nature enthusiast’s dream. Do you hike, bike or ride horses? There are nine different trails to choose from. Don’t forget to climb the Observation Tower to get a picturesque view of Lake Country!

Golf at Erin Hills

Unleash your inner Tiger Woods and make your friends jealous by getting a tee time at Erin Hills Golf Course, home of the 2017 U.S. Open. This stunning yet challenging 18-hole golf course is one of the best public courses in the country and a must-golf when you’re in Delafield.

Wander Wisconsin’s National Scenic Trail

There are only 11 National Scenic Trails and one of them is completely contained within the state of Wisconsin. The Ice Age National Scenic Trail was formed over 12,000 years ago when a glacier retreated and left behind a variety of landscapes. Now, it’s a 1,200-mile-long trail that winds through Wisconsin, with a 5.6-mile section located in Waukesha County that passes through Delafield, making for the perfect day hike.

Bike Around Lake Country

Take to the Lake Country and Kettle Moraine trails on two wheels with your own bike or a rental from Wheel & Sprocket. Spend your day on a leisurely ride through downtown Delafield or, if you’re seeking a thrill, hit the Lapham Peak trails for a bit of adventure.

Paddle on Lake Nagawicka

‘SUP? A stand-up paddleboard on Nagawicka Lake! Rent a SUP or kayak from Clear Water Outdoor to spend an afternoon paddling around one of Lake Country’s favorite lakes.

After spending the day in the great outdoors, venture back to your room for a steamy rain shower or soak in your spa tub, then order room service and spend the rest of your night relaxing in your suite. Stay and play (and relax) the Delafield Hotel way.
