Summer in Wisconsin is full of adventure, and Lake Country is the best place to stay and play this summer. Music lovers, partygoers and adventurers alike will find something enjoyable in Delafield and the surrounding area. Here are some of our favorite ways to stay and play in Lake Country this summer:
Delafield Block Party
The Delafield Area Chamber of Commerce, the city of Delafield and numerous area businesses sponsor the Delafield Block Party one weekend every summer. Residents and visitors are welcome to take in the live music, local food offerings and an assortment of beverages on back-to-back nights. This year’s block party is July 13 and 14 from 5 p.m. to midnight with no entrance fee!
Lucky for us (and you), Delafield is only a short drive from the Milwaukee lakefront and one of the longest-running music festivals in the world, Summerfest! If you don’t feel like parking at the festival, there’s a bus and shuttle service only a five-minute drive from the hotel at the Nagawaukee Park and Ride. The 11-day event boasts some of the biggest names in music while providing a major stage for up-and-coming bands and artists. Want to kick up your boots at a country concert? Or reminisce about your teenage years with some classic rock? There are a few shows in the lineup.
Delafield Farmers’ Market
Whether you’re looking for fresh produce, handmade gifts or a delicious meal, you’ll want to spend your Saturday at the Delafield Farmers’ Market. This is the ideal spot to support local artisans and farmers, and the market is only a short walk from the hotel. Venture out every Saturday morning from May to October.
Kettle Moraine State Forest
The best view in Delafield is from the Lapham Peak Unit in Kettle Moraine State Forest. Choose from multiple trails that vary in difficulty level and spend your day hiking through beautiful Lake Country terrain. The Ice Age Trail is one of only 11 National Scenic Trails in the country and part of the 1,000-mile trail is located in Kettle Moraine State Forest, so you’ll be able to cross that off your bucket list.
Speaking of bucket lists, playing a round of golf at Erin Hills should be on yours if it isn’t already. The course was the site of the 2017 U.S. Open Championship and it’s one of the top 50 golf courses in the country, so you’ll earn bragging rights with your friends.

Biking and Paddling
They don’t call it Lake Country for nothing! Nagawicka Lake is over 900 acres of beautiful water that’s perfect for boating, fishing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and much more. Head to Clear Water Outdoor in downtown Delafield to rent kayaks and paddleboards, and you can also schedule lessons. Prefer to stay on dry land? Rent a bike from Wheel & Sprocket and hit one of the many Lake Country-area bike trails.
We’re ready for a summer full of outdoor activities, farmers markets and festivals, so we created special packages just for the outdoorsmen and women who want to stay and play the Lake Country way. Book our Stay & Play packages to experience Lake Country from the trails or the water while relishing in the luxury the Delafield Hotel offers.
