Get Away with Your Girlfriends

August 31, 2017

Work, families and everyday life can be stressful, so sometimes you just need a ladies’ night out. We get it, so why not make a weekend of it? Grab your closest girlfriends and head to Delafield, Wis., for a getaway that will leave you feeling refreshed before returning home to the madness.

We put together a list of some of our favorite things you and your girlfriends can do in Delafield that will make you want to spend every girls’ trip here:

Farmers’ Market

Located within walking distance to the hotel, the Delafield Farmers’ Market is an event both locals and visitors look forward to every year. From mid-May to mid-October, you and your girlfriends can spend a Saturday morning perusing the booths of local businesses that offer everything from fresh produce to hand-crafted outdoor furniture. When you’re done shopping, enjoy lunch from one of the local vendors while listening to some of the talented musicians featured every week.

Shopping

A girls’ weekend would not be complete without a little shopping spree! Lucky for you and your girls, just down the hill from the hotel, the streets of downtown Delafield are lined with cute boutiques and other shops. Looking for one-of-a-kind finds to spice up your wardrobe? Be sure to hit Element Style, The Barn Owl and Bangles & Bags. These locally owned shops are full of fashionable clothes, shoes and accessories.

If you’re not in the mood to shop for clothes, there are plenty of other shops. The Barn Owl carries more than just clothes, and offers things like home furnishings, candles and soaps. Bittersweet has everything from jewelry to bath bombs to kitchen accessories. Sample different kinds of olive oil and balsamic vinegar before you buy them at Oliva di Vita.

The Great Outdoors

Lake Country is beautiful no matter what season and there’s always something for you and your adventurous girlfriends to do outdoors during a stay in Delafield. When the weather’s warmer, cool off on Lake Nagawicka with a kayak or paddleboard, either your own or rented from Clearwater Outdoor.

There’s always that one person who’s likely to capsize, so staying on land might be a better option for your group. Perfect for warm or cool weather, you and your girls can rent bikes from Wheel & Sprocket and hit the Kettle Moraine trails, or if you brought your hiking boots, hike up to Lapham Peak and take in the breathtaking views.

Relaxation

Relax is a five letter word that isn’t in most busy women’s vocabularies. At Craig Berns Salon Spa, you and your girlfriends can get facials and massages and R-E-L-A-X. Get a little extra pampering with a blowout and a mani/pedi before your girls’ night out on the town. You’ll feel like a million bucks!

Sometimes, a good sweat sesh is the perfect way to relax. Kick it up a notch and head over to be FITNESS for an energetic cardio session or get your zen on in a yoga class your girls. As a guest of The Delafield Hotel, you get a pass to enjoy all be FITNESS has to offer.

Dining Experiences

From brunch to frozen custard to burgers to small plates, there’s no shortage of restaurants in downtown Delafield. The best way to start your Sunday is with brunch, so check out I.d.’s sweet and savory menu and chat with your girls with a mimosa or bloody mary in hand. You can always have room service from I.d. delivered to you and your girls in your PJ’s, too. After a day of shopping or hiking, get your sugar fix from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory or Wholly Cow Frozen Custard. Don’t waste those blowouts from the salon and hit the town for a ladies’ night out complete with dinner and live music on a Friday or Saturday at Revere’s Wells Street Tavern and I.d.

Just Artsy Things

Release your inner Picasso at PaintBar and take an instructor-led painting class with your girls or reserve a table to freestyle paint. There’s food and drink available, and PaintBar likes to describe their painting as, “Art therapy with liquid courage.” Booze, food and painting? Perfect for a girls’ weekend! If you’re not artistically inclined, you might enjoy watching a play at SummerStage, Waukesha County’s only outdoor theater. Located in the Lapham Peak unit, shows run from June-September. Bring a blanket and have a picnic dinner while watching a show. (Alcohol is allowed, by the way.)

From eating to hiking to shopping, Delafield is the perfect spot for a getaway with your girlfriends. You can find your rhythm at I.d. or sweat it out at be FITNESS, then relax in our comfortable beds in one of our plush robes. You can never be too relaxed and spending quality time with your best friends is important, so unwind and reconnect in Delafield, Wis.
